Holdon To Selfhood In A Community

Our endorsement of selfhood should not be defined by any club, group, or community.

Recently, I've watched some documentaries on homicide/familicide, and a majority of cases happened in a tight-knit community.

A beloved husband, well-around father, and venerable believer, most of the family annihilators are males whose selfhood is merged with family and religious community, they live on external validation for their self-value.

Selfhood represents ‘I’ as a unique individual, recognizing what values I can contribute to the community and building up genuine relationships with others.

You and I, both individuals should not be overwhelmed by the expectations of the collective.

Even though harmony is the priority belief in a community, you and I still have the right to ask for advice for difficulties at work, strengthening the value of selfhood via mutual interaction.

A healthy community is built on individuals who have confident but humble self-esteem and are willing to listen to various perspectives but are not affected by opposite opinions.

It reminds me of a marriage, which brings two different individuals together, and both sides know how to set boundaries around their selfhood and respect each other.

If a marriage or a family is portrayed by a community, there must be dormant chaos waiting to erupt.
